Drink as much water as you can throughout the day. Making sure to drink a minimum of 2 litres! Herbal teas can count towards your water intake. If you are drinking coffee, for every cup you drink; try to drink an extra glass of water. Even slight dehydration can affect your concentration and energy levels. Remember to drink more while exercising!
Often people mistake thirst for hunger. Have a glass of water half an hour before every meal to ensure you do not overeat.
Did you know these foods contain negative calories, ie, it takes more calories for you to eat them, than they contain. Eat as much of these foods as you wish:
Asparagus, Beets, Broccoli, Green Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, Celery, Chicory, Hot Chilli Pepper, Cucumber, Dandelion, Endive, Garden Cress, Garlic, Green Beans, Zucchini
Apple, Cranberries, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mango, Orange Pineapple, Raspberry, Strawberries, Tangerines, Lettuce, Papaya, Radishes, Spinach, Turnips.
BE AWARE: In order for these to stay negative in calories, they must be fresh with NO ADDITIONS. (Eg, can’t be dipped in chocolate!!)
If you are craving a food, eat it! It is better to have a small portion of the food you are craving, otherwise you will replace it with other high calorie foods, and still have the original craving!
Splurge! You can’t eat perfectly all the time, spoil yourself once a week. Make sure your next meal is part of your diet.
When going out for dinner, order an entree size meal and split a dessert, rather than eating a whole one. Look for meals served with salads and vegetables. Swap fries with a potato and order dressing on the side.
Have a picture planted somewhere in your house or office to help you stay motivated! Remind yourself of how well you are doing and how great you will look and feel! Set small, realistic goals and reward yourself when you reach them!
Prepare your meals and your shopping lists so there is always a healthy option available. Always make extra to have for lunch the next day, or in the freezer for busy times. Pack your lunch and prepare breakfast the night before. Have snacks packed into correct portions for easy access.
Don’t have food in the house that will tempt you to break your diet. If it is not in reach, you can’t eat it!
Try to avoid drinking alcohol. If you do opt to drink, try a good glass of red wine or, try to stick to white spirits. (If it were Dawn, she’d leave it altogether! haha)
Never skip a meal! Always eat, even if it is a smaller serving, to ensure you keep your metabolism alive.
